A not so jiffy lube....

I haven't changed the oil myself in my car since before marriage.  We used to do it with Dad growing up at home, but that was before the onslaught of Jiffy Lube.  Well I decided to change the oil myself instead of paying someone else to do it.  I actually enjoyed it, and so did Drew.  It took awhile, and I made a huge mess, but it was fun.  The oil filters on our 2 foreign cars were impossible to get to, but I managed after I borrowed a different fuel filter wrench from our neighbor Marvin.  Next time Drew and I are committed to being as fast as Jimmy Johnson's pit crew.  I wasn't happy about the puddle of oil on the garage floor, and Becky wasn't happy about the oil on Drew's nice shorts.  Oh well, next time, we will do better.

foreign cars? Isn't your Mazda Tribute really a Ford Escort with a Mazda sticker and some add'l trim put on it? and your Accord was probably built in Marysville, OH if not at least partly designed there, too!? So, the oil might have been harder to change, but if they were "American" cars, they probably wouldn't even be running anymore! Why is it that Foreign companies can get Americans to build better cars than American companies can? I don't know the answer.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves. Did you save anything off the $20 Jiffy Lube when you consider the $10 in oil and filter AND Drew's shorts? Hmmm... I'd be happy to hire you to do lots of jobs around my house for a couple pennies per hour! But then again, if you're going to leave a mess everywhere... maybe not!
